This statement recognises our obligation under Health and Safety
at Work, etc Act 1974.
Statement
of Intent
Old House Holdings is fully committed to achieving and
maintaining the highest standards of Health and Safety for its
employees and stakeholders. The
Group further recognises that the effective control of Health and
Safety is an integral and essential element of successful management
and that vigilance, teamwork, co-operation and the involvement of
employees at all levels are vital in maintaining standards and
achieving continuous Health and Safety improvements.
Key Responsibilities
·
The Group
Board recognises its responsibilities for Health and Safety matters
and requires operating company Directors and Managers to be
responsible for safety performance within their areas.
·
All
employees and subcontractors are reminded that they have a legal duty
to take reasonable care of their own Health and Safety and that of
others affected by their work activities.
Objectives
·
To identify
and minimise the risk of injury and health hazards to all persons who
are affected by the Group’s activities.
·
To reduce by
all practical means the number of accidents and dangerous incidents at
the workplace.
·
To ensure
that the legal obligations of the Group and its employees are fully
observed.
Policy
In
order to achieve these objectives, the Group will:

Regularly
review and update the Group Health and Safety Policy and where
appropriate ensure the document is prominently displayed on sites and
workplaces.
·
Provide,
develop and maintain a Safety Management System as a framework and
guide for safe working practices and procedures.
·
Issue a copy
of the Group Health and Safety Policy and Safety Management System to
all appropriate staff and require it to be properly maintained and
readily accessible.
·
Ensure all
staff are aware of their safety responsibilities and comply with the
group safety organisation and procedural arrangements detailed in the
Safety Management System.
·
Provide
safety advice to assist Managers and all employees to undertake their
work in a safe and responsible manner.
·
Provide
adequate Health and Safety training for employees at all levels.
·
Provide
staff with the necessary authority to implement the Group Safety
Policy throughout their operations.
·
Encourage
liaison with the Health and Safety Executive and all other appropriate
authorities and organisations concerning Health and Safety.
The
Group Personnel Manager is responsible for the implementation of this
Policy and in turn each operating company will formally appoint a
Safety Executive to be responsible for ensuring implementation and
monitoring of the Safety Management System.
